As a young girl, I sang this hymn in the choir loft every Christmas Eve midnight service for 10 years. It’s my favorite. This is a lovely version. The windows in the cathedral looked like these. Thank you for posting this.
Thanks for posting this piano notes. I love this hymn and play it frequently year ’round to capture another “hit” of Spirit to help me get through these troubled times. This version is lovely and mercifully bereft of modern tonalities, trusting in the simple beauty of child-like faith.
This version is so beautiful. This is the song that I would like to sing at a Christmas concert. Unfortunately, I cannot find where I should perform this song, but I’m praying that I have a place. Nevertheless, I love this song so much. Well done!.
Can you create the sheet music pls? I have heard this amazing song before, but it wasn’t until Christmas morning 2015 at church when this song played at the very end until I truly realized how spectacular and beautiful this song is. I’m so grateful for this song and it’s meaning of course is even more spectacular. Jesus is love. God bless.
I can’t figure out why I know different words to the second verse. I’ve never heard this version before. “Shepherds, why this jubilee? Why these songs of happy cheer? What great brightness did you see? What glad tidings did you hear?” are the words I grew up with.
amazing me and my church choir did an awesome job w this divine carol. United Methodist Church Crewe Virginia a group of amazing ppl.
Great piano notes. Day 9 in quarantine…celebrating an early Christmas. Yayyy!! Meanwhile my partner is slowly slipping in to a vast hole of darkness… Gloooooooria! Lol. Jk. However, I have a feeling it’s heading in our direction soon. To the countries who are on full lock down. This song is for you!! “The best way to conquer the Corona fear, is singing loud for all to hear!!!” We got this!!.
I believe in angels and love playing the song on my piano.
It’s a very beautiful feeling – great notes.
What type of music is this?? I’m not Christian, I don’t like Christmas carols or jingle bells or anything but this is that SHIT. I jam to these carols year round. This songs makes me wanna cry because it reminds me of my relatives that passed away.
