Hit Different is a single released in September 2020 by SZA featuring Ty Dolla $ign. Both singers co-write the song with Rob Bisel and the producers, The Neptunes. It is a contemporary R&B song beginning with Pharrell William’s infamous “four-count”. Lyrically, the song is a “Torch song” detailing a dysfunctional relationship with an emotionally unavailable partner and her toxic tendencies to return back to him. The song peaked at 10 on the Rolling Stone Top 100 List.
SZA was critically acclaimed and applauded for the song and the video which she directed herself. The song although written about heartbreak, has a calming and sensual touch to it.
