This was one of the iconic songs of the 90s era. The song was sung by Lata Mangeshkar who is a legend in her own right. For a long time, she has been considered the best female singer that India has ever produced. Lata Mangeshkar is known to have perfected the art of singing and she never seems to miss the mark when hitting those notes. She has given us many hits over the years which are immortalized in the hearts of music lovers and this song is certainly one of her most heard songs. The song was quite famous during the time it was released. It was part of the movie Satyam Shivam Sundaram. The movie starred Zeenat Aman and Sashi Kapoor in the lead roles and the former managed to get a lot of recognition as a leading lady of Bollywood because of her impeccable performance. The song is about Lord Krishna and his mother Yashoda Maiya. There is a famous story in Hindu mythology according to which Lord Krishna enquired to his mother about his skin tone. He asks, much to the amusement of his mother, why is it that he has a dark skin tone but Radha (Krishna’s childhood friend turned devout) has a light one. This song is centered around that myth and therefore can also be considered as a song of devotion.
